Student Researcher, Aspiring Philosopher

I'm David DeMatteo, an undergraduate philosophy major at Reed College, tutor, and academic researcher. I've published and presented my research in Metaethics, Normative Ethical Theory, German Idealism, and Political Philosophy, but I also have interests in Philosophy of Biology, Classical Epistemology, Aesthetic Normativity, and Philosophy of Action. The ultimate aim of my work is to bring the insights of Kant, Hegel, and the school of Critical Theory to bear on contemporary debates in analytic value theory. To speak immodestly, I'd like to do what Brandom and McDowell have done for Idealist epistemology in the terrain of ethical theory and political philosophy. To that end, I have my first two publications forthcoming in Episteme and A Priori.
